Vanessa is now the president and managing partner and she will be responsible for running the company’s day-to-day operations, and she will be a key factor in its future growth. When you meet Vanessa, you will immediately understand why I am so confident in my decision to sell controlling interest in Snell Real Estate, and allow Vanessa to take over the operations of the company I founded over 15 years ago.
I’m convinced that she will do an outstanding job and take Snell Real Estate to an even higher level based on the foundation I have built over the past years.

I will remain onboard as a shareholder and continue to sell real estate. The best part of my job has always been the people I get to meet and spend time with, and I intend to do much more of than over the coming years.

The whales travel for months along the Pacific Coast, leaving the colder waters of their hunting grounds in the Northern Pacific around Siberia and Alaska to journey into the warmer waters around Baja California. There, the whales give birth to their young in the peaceful and sheltered waters of San Ignacio, Magdalena Bay, and other protected warm-water coves. Once the calves are birthed and weaned, the whales rest before beginning the long journey home as spring begins.

Los Cabos residents can spot the whales as they travel to the safe harbors of those peaceful lagoons farther down the Baja California coast. If you thought nothing goes on in August in Los Cabos, you are mistaken. Mercedes-Benz held a golf tournament at Puerto Los Cabos and the Yellow Fin Tuna are running within 3 miles of shore — making for incredible fishing.

The Golf Tournament featured over 70 golfers, all playing to win the Mercedes Trophy, which qualifies them to play in Cancun in September. The winner in Cancun will then go on to play in Stuttgart, Germany for the Mercedes Trophy World Finals.

When it was over, Mike Miller of Team Snell, beat the rest of the field with a Par 73 and team member Greg Filardi placed 3rd overall. Fellow Team Snell players, Chris Snell and Andy Lemke, were credited with moral support and showing Mike and Greg where “not to drive” and how “not to putt.”

The next morning, Team Snell boarded the ADIOS out of Club Ninety Six in Palmilla and by 11:00 am they had landed 4 monster yellow fin tuna. Mike battled his 150 lb. tuna for 1 hour and 45 minutes before finally landing his first ever tuna weighing over 100 lbs…..

“Where else in the world can you catch huge tuna while looking at the golf course where you just won the Mercedes-Benz Trophy?” Mike said. “There is no place like Cabo and that is why I love to live here.”

Mike is now off to an all expenses paid trip to the Moon Palace in Cancun in September to play in the Mercedes Trophy Finals, in hopes to qualify for the Mercedes Trophy World Finals in Stuttgart, Germany.

The Mercedes-Benz Trophy Golf Tournament is hosted by Mercedes-Benz in over 45 countries. The Tournament is for amateur golfers and over 60,000 players tee-off each year in hopes of qualifying to play in the World Finals in Stuttgart, Germany.

Congratulations to Mike for winning the Mercedes Trophy and for catching his first yellow fin tuna weighing over 100 lbs.. What a weekend!

This 26.5 mile race takes place completely on a stand-up paddleboard. (Stand up paddleboarding is currently the fastest growing sport in the world; gaining recognition globally.) The event starts at Pier 40 located on the west side of NYC at Houston & West Street, ends under the Brooklyn Bridge.

We asked Janet why she felt inclined to participate in the race. Here’s what she had to say:

“For years I have supported Los Cabos Charities. Through charity work I have become familiar with Surfer’s Healing and what they do for children and families in Los Cabos. This foundation is dedicated to Autism (surfershealing.org), they invite families with Autistic Children to experience a day at the beach where Pro Surfer’s take the children surfing; providing an amazing sense of freedom and release for both the children and their families. In Los Cabos they have brought physically challenged and autistic children to the beach for over 10 years. Some of these families have never been to the beach  (believe it or not)! I believe that there is a cure for autism and embrace this cause on all levels.

I started stand up paddling just over a year ago and it has become a passion. I have heard about  SEA Paddle NYC for a couple of years, this paddle benefits various Autism Charities and the Surfers Environmental  Alliance, I just had to enter.

I like setting goals, both in business and for personal reasons; it drives me to do my best.  My goal is to raise $20,000. So far I am in third place for fund raising and reaching out to my friends, colleagues and clients. Its amazing the support I am getting. 

I will be paddling 26 miles (more or less) around Manhattan Island. This will take about 6 hours. It is not a race (although my competitive side has my eye on the Elite Race next year). A few hundred people paddle, the city doesn’t stop; there are barges, airplanes, ferry’s and the currents of the mighty Hudson river.

In the month of July, Cabo is home to not one but two different celebrations rooted in Mexican culture. The Fiesta of the Virgin of Carmen takes place on July 16 and honors the woman believed to be the protector of Mexico. On the day of the fiesta, the lively streets of downtown Cabo are filled with craft vendors, puppeteers, and parades that will delight visitors young and old. The celebration also caters to sport fishing enthusiasts with an annual fishing competition, as well as a traditional bullfight at Toros Stadium.

Two weeks after the Fiesta of the Virgin of Carmen is the Festival of St. James on July 25. Held to honor the Apostle credited with bringing Catholicism to Mexico, the entire city will be filled with parades that culminate with re-enacted battles at dusk in the town square. The excitement starts at 2pm, with shops closing early and revelers spilling out of cantinas throughout the vibrant downtown area.
